Charlotte

Charlotte is just 45 minutes south on I-77. As the 26th largest city in the country, it has everything you would expect of a major metropolitan area. Museums, performing arts centers , family attractions and learning centers abound in Charlotte and the surrounding area. In addition, the National Whitewater Center, The Billy Graham Library and Ray's Splash Planet make Charlotte a welcome destination.

Winston-Salem

Just to the east of Troutman, about an hour away on I-40, Winston-Salem's Bethabara Park was the first colonial settlement in the Carolina Piedmont. It was founded by a small group of Moravians in 1753. Today Winston-Salem is known as the "City of the Arts." It's rich colonial history is authentically captured and its cultural heritage is celebrated in art and history centers that preserve the legacies of Moravian musical life, and art in furniture, ceramics, textiles and metalworks.

Hickory

To the west, also about an hour away on I-40, Hickory is located in scenic country an hour south of the entrance to the Blue Ridge Parkway. One of the first furniture manufacturers in the country was founded in Hickory, and today it's estimated that about 60% of the nation's furniture is produced within a 200 mile radius, so it's a primary destination for furniture shoppers.
